...and yelling homophobic slurs. Mike Rice was suspended three games for his conduct, how he wasn't fired is anyone's guess. ESPN's OTL on the subject, what a childish act.

He needs to be fired for cause immediately at this point. I also have to question whether Tim Pernetti's contract as AD should be renewed.

Rutgers BB Coach needs to go

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nca...s/2047211/

Just saw the Rutgers practice video on ESPN, Coach Rice has to go, simple as that. Grabbing players, throwing balls at their heads etc is over the top. Rutgers players deserve a better coach than that.

Guy doesn't deserve to coach a kindergarten t-ball team, let alone a huge college program.

Needs to be fired. The coach has too much power over these kids to be able to physically reprimand them.

I'd like to see him attempt that crap on someone who he doesn't control. My guess is he would be too scared to get the crap beat out of him.

He basically made recruiting good players near impossible in the future.

I don't know the details but RU has financial issues. Combine that with a bad contract (i.e. expensive buyout) and they could be stuck. Although this would seem to be a very good reason to void the buyout. Either way, it is not as expensive as a lawsuit. Not to mention the black eye for RU.

House cleaning should have been done long ago. It's too late now. The team is being dismantled as we speak...

Jerome Seagers has requested a transfer, and I doubt he'll be the last one to go. More will be leaving, or so the rumor goes...

The former assistant who provided the tape is Eric Murdock. Murdock was a 4-year starter at Providence, was the all-time NCAA leader in steals, was a Second-Team All-American, and had held the Big East record for most points in a game with 48. He was actually part of Rick Pitino's last recruiting class at PC, though Pitino was already with the Knicks before Murdock began his freshman year. Utah picked him in the first round in '91, and he played in the backcourt with John Stockton.

I think it's terrible that Rutger's AD basically said he's only just now "mulling" his options over BECAUSE the tape surfaced. Apparently he's cool with it as long as people don't know about it...

"I think now that [the videotape] is out there -- we knew it was going to get out there," Pernetti said during a radio interview with WFAN in New York. "The reaction -- we knew what it was going to be. I need to sit here and think about what gives us the ability to be effective going forward in men's basketball, and more importantly, what protects the university.

To be fair this is why Rice was suspended and fined back in December. This wasn't exactly swept under the rug. Now I do think as soon as our season was over he should have been fired.

According to the article this was brought to his attention in the summer. Should have ended it right there.

That video might make it a bit difficult to deny a transfer.
